Under the 200's Hood
All 2017 Chrysler 200 trims are standard with a 2.4-liter Multiair2 Tigershark 4-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive and a 9-speed automatic transmission. This drivetrain generates 184 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque. Last year's EPA ratings for this vehicle were 28 mpg combined (23 city/36 highway). The 200S and 200C Platinum could be outfitted with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that sees 295 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. That engine also is standard with a 9-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, yet all-wheel drive remains a possibility. EPA-estimated fuel economy in 2016 was 23 mpg combined (19 city/32 highway) with front-wheel drive, we imagine it will be similar in 2017. On the front, the suspension is a MacPherson strut with dual-reacting twin-tube shock absorbers. On the back end, suspension is Multi-link independent, with dual-reacting twin-tube shock absorbers.
Design of Chrysler 200
The 2017 Chrysler 200 is a midsize sedan that is here in LX, Touring, 200S Alloy Edition, Limited Platinum, 200S, and 200C Platinum trims. The Touring, Limited Platinum and 200C Platinum are new to 2017. The Chrysler 200 has excellent interior design and materials, especially in the 200S and 200C models, and has an available 8.4-inch Uconnect interface. Little design touches help the driver, for instance: the rotary transmission shifter enables a spot for a multi-level center storage compartment, or, that Chrysler put audio controls on the steering wheel itself, across all models. There is a 16-cubic-foot trunk. The Limited trim presents with cloth upholstery and a standard 5-inch audio display. Standard equipment on the LX consists of steel 17-inch wheels, automatic headlights, height-adjustable front seats, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, keyless ignition and entry, cruise control, an AC unit, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. The Touring adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, floor mats and Uconnect 5.0. The Touring Convenience Group adds a rearview camera and an eight-way power driver seat with four-way power lumbar adjustment. Moving into the 200 Limited Platinum will add 17-inch alloy wheels, a rearview camera, power-adjustable heated front seats (eight-way driver, six-way passenger), front LED running lights, different exterior and interior trim, leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and the popular Uconnect 8.4 system (with optional Navigation). A sunroof and a blind-spot warning system can be added as separate options. The 200S adds to the standard Limited content a customized trim on the exterior and interior, a satellite radio, 18-inch wheels, power-adjustable heated front sport seats, a sport-tuned suspension, heated mirrors, foglights, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Available features include the Uconnect 8.4, a panoramic sunroof, the 200S Comfort Group (includes all Comfort and Convenience items), heated/ventilated front seats with complete leather upholstery, the Premium Lighting Group (LED foglights and xenon headlights) and the Navigation and Sound. The 200S Alloy Edition adds a unique and eye-catching dark bronze exterior trim, plus adds 19-inch wheels. The 200C Platinum has upscale gauges, the Uconnect 8.4 touchscreen, the Premium Lighting Group items, the Comfort and Convenience Group features, full leather seating, and a 10-speaker Alpine sound system.
