2018 Chrysler Pacifica vs 2018 Honda Odyssey near Simi Valley, CA

In 2018 the Chrysler Pacifica has entered an all-new ball game with its addition of a new base trim and a multitude of new standard safety features. The Pacifica has made more of its standalone options available across the board and upgraded many of the already standard equipment for an overall better ride. The Honda Odyssey has also seen a few changes for 2018 with improvements to the V6 in hopes of making the vehicle a little easier to handle than previous years.

2018 Chrysler Pacifica Power & Handling

The Pacifica offers the 3.6-liter V6 with and without dual-electric motors. A smooth shifting nine-speed automatic transmission provides this minivan with more power than ever before seen in a minivan. With the 16kWh battery, the Pacifica can travel 33 miles on electric alone and rockets the average 32 mpg EPA rating to an 84 MPGe!

2018 Honda Odyssey Power & Handling

The Honda Odyssey has only one engine available to each of its trims. The 3.5-liter V6 offers an EPA rated fuel economy of 22 miles per gallon. Even with the option to switch from the nine-speed automatic transmission to the ten-speed automatic transmission, this minivan lacks in horsepower. The engine comes with an auto stop-start engagement that can be somewhat rough to transition through.

2018 Chrysler Pacifica Features & Design

The Pacifica starts off with the brand new L trim, already pretty loaded with special features, and continues to improve with each of its other five trim levels. This minivan offers multiple packages and standalone features that can help to customize each trim into what feels best for you. A KeySense is available to every level for helping parents to improve and monitor their teens driving as well.

2018 Honda Odyssey Features & Design

The Odyssey does things differently than most vehicles. Each trim is exactly what it says with no options for packages or standalone features to add on. The base trim is the LX. The LX is pretty basic with a just a few standard features that you might expect to see on any minivan. The next trim adds quite a lot, but then from there, you don't see too much more improvement.

Conclusions

With the lack of options to customize and the inability to compete with the Pacifica's hybrid engine option, the Odyssey doesn't really stand out.
